High temperatures affect blood pressure

The Executive Director of BCI, prof. Simova:

High temperatures affect blood pressure by raising it. The blood thickens, which makes it harder for the heart to beat and can lead to heat stroke. The temperature rises, which can cause heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Simova recommended not to undergo sudden temperature changes, drink more fluids and wear loose and wide clothes.

The famous maestro Kurtev dedicated a concert to the doctors at the Heart and Brain Center of Excellence

In the hall of the regional administration in Burgas, the world-famous pianist Academician Atanas Kurtev performed a Chopin recital in recognition and gratitude to the doctors of the Heart and Brain Center of Clinical Excellence who saved the life of his wife Nely Kurteva.

The leading cardiologists, Dr. Sashko Zhezhovski and Dr. Oktay Maksudov, admitted Mrs. Kurteva to the emergency room with clear indications of an acute myocardial infarction, and thanks to the care of the team, the patient is feeling great today.

Life after COVID: More than half of Bulgarians who have had COVID-19 suffer from cardiovascular problems

More than half a year after the launch of “Life after COVID” – Bulgaria’s first post-COVID treatment and follow-up campaign, BCI reports alarming data: more than half of Bulgarians who have had COVID-19 suffer from cardiovascular disorders.

Dr. Radka Alexandrova, pulmonologist: “I have to refer about 80% of my patients to a cardiologist.”

“Post-coronary conditions can affect anyone, regardless of their age and health condition, warns Prof. Iana Simova, Head of the post-COVID syndrome research group.

Prof. Iana Simova: BCI has the biggest experience in the treatment of post-COVID syndrome in Bulgaria

One of the most common postconditions resulting from the infection are heart-related. In our country alone, more than 70 000 patients have been hospitalised and discharged after being cured of coronavirus but have sought medical help again because of subsequent problems. Even the mild cases, the asymptomatic ones, are now seeking or will seek medical help,” Prof. Dr. Iana Simova said in an interview with Darik.

Heart and Brain in Pleven starts free consultations for cancer patients

The Medical Oncology Clinic’s team initiates free consultations for all patients with solid malignant tumors. The consultations will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 13:00 to 15:00  by Assoc.
