\nThe neurosurgical department has 2 high-tech operating rooms equipped with the most modern equipment for neurosurgical surgical activity, some of which have no analogue in the country (unique fully robotized digital microscope of the company Synaptive, Canada, latest generation electron operating microscope of the company ZEISS, Germany, and neuroendoscopic systems for brain and spinal surgery of the companies Aesculap and Joimax, Germany, 2-D\/3-D system for navigated intraoperative image guidance in spinal neurosurgery Surgivisio), as well as ultrasound aspirator CUSA, C-arm, high-speed electro-drill Elan 4 of the company Aesculap for bone procedures, etc. The operating rooms are equipped with general neurosurgical instrumentation for cranial brain and spinal neurosurgery, operating tables and brain fixators, as well as specialized sets for minimally invasive surgery for brain and spinal tumors and vascular pathology, pediatric neurosurgery, cervical, thoracic and lumbar disc herniations, stenosis and other degenerative diseases, purely endoscopic skull base surgery, transsphenoidal approaches for pituitary and paracellular tumors.<\/p>\n

The bed capacity of the department comprises 20 inpatient beds for neurosurgical patients, located on the 5th floor of the hospital, as well as an outpatient clinic in the admissions department. The inpatient ward is furnished according to state-of-the-art hygiene requirements with central air-conditioning and sanitary facilities (bathroom\/toilet) in each inpatient room and individual telephone and television connection options. Continuous monitoring of patients’ pre-operative and post-operative condition is provided by a competent staff of specialist neurosurgeons with expertise in all areas of modern neurosurgical practice, as well as by an experienced team of medical care professionals.<\/p>\n

Activities:<\/strong>
\nThe capabilities of the department cover the treatment of the widest possible range of neurosurgical diseases within the general profile of the Heart and Brain Hospital in Burgas, such as primary brain and pituitary tumours and secondary tumours (metastases), vascular neurosurgery, functional neurosurgery (pain syndromes, cranial rhizopathies such as trigeminal neuralgia and facial hemispasm, occipital neuralgia, etc. ) and paediatric neurosurgery, surgery of post-traumatic and oncological complications such as internal hydrocephalus, liquorrhoea, subacute and chronic subdural blood collections, spinal neurosurgery (pain syndromes, cervical, thoracic and lumbar disc herniations, degenerative stenosis of the lumbar canal, various types of scoliosis and listhesis of the vertebrae forming the spine, osteoporotic and pathological\/oncological spinal fractures), surgery of traumatic peripheral nerve injuries, etc.[\/vc_column_text][mk_padding_divider size=”120″]\n
